Video of the Week - Katie Reider
Topic: Film/Video         Category: For Tuesday
Posted by: cringe on Jul 17, 2008

It's another sad week for local music. Columbus & Cincinnati singer/songwriter/guitarist Katie Reider died July 14, 2008 after a 2 year battle with a rare tumor. This video and the 500kin365.org site have more details.

I only met Katie a couple times and maybe talked with her another 2 times via phone or email. She was contagiously cheerful and sweet every time. She was also one of the most popular artists at the band merch booth the last 2 years she played Comfest. Two of Katie's songs were used in the WB's Dawson's Creek and another was used in Lifetime Television Network's Strong Medicine.

I'm sure Katie reached many people and will reach many more.

From Jerry DeCicca of the Black Swans:
We are going to be holding a Memorial for Noel here in Columbus, OH. The details are posted below. The date is far enough away that I hope everyone has time to make arrangements to make the occasion. The specifics are not yet all worked out yet. I'll send more details as they become available. We hope if you have had a connection to Noel, musical or other, over the years and were not able to make the services, that you would come out and share your memories of Noel with us.

Below is information on how to attend Noel's memorial service and how to make a donation to ease some of the financial burden associated with his accident.

The service takes place this Saturday July 12th at the first Presbyterian Church in Huntington, WV. There will be visitations between 12-2pm, followed by a service.

The Columbus Music Co-Op has set up a non-profit account for us to deposit funds in order to help cover Noel's funeral expenses. All remaining money, and money earned in the future, will be used to set up a music scholarship at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in Noel's name.

Please pass this along to anyone you might know that I've forgotten.
