SHOW IN SUPPORT OF VOLUME 2 OF CRINGE.COM COMPILATION CD

CRINGE.COM hosts a show supporting the Cringe.com/pilation v2.0 CD on Friday, November 2 at Oldfield's on High:

Friday, November 2, 2001 at Oldfield's on High
Brad Swiniarski (of Bigfoot and Bob City)
Rosavelt (from Cleveland)
Moviola

With Bigfoot and Bob City being largely inactive, we decided to get one of their driving forces from out of the shadows of his usual drum kit. Multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Brad Swiniarski will be taking center stage solo and with a band doing his own take on things like Tom Waits, delta blues, Ohio and whatever strikes him.

Cleveland's Rosavelt is best known in these here parts as Tim Easton's touring partner. Rosavelt and Tim would trade sets for a nearly continuous night of music with Rosavelt backing Tim in the transitions.

"Rosavelt is one of those remarkable Northeast Ohio secrets ..." - Akron Beacon Journal

"I usually complain when bands try too hard to sound like other bands. This Cleveland trio, however, is an exception. Though they draw from a well of several acts including the Velvet Underground, the Vulgar Boatmen, and perhaps a slight touch of Joe Henry, this album somehow made me forget all the reference points." - No Depression

After years of indie Pavement then spacey Velvet Underground comparisons, Columbus music veterans Moviola have settled into a kind of Ohio Americana. These days they are more likely to be grouped with the likes of the Ass Ponys, Steve Earle, the Byrds, Neil Young and Beck (um, at least by me).

The Cringe.com/pilation v2.0 CD has a tentative release date of Spring 2002. The following artists and bands are lined-up for the CD and support shows: Altered Statesmen, Behemoth, Bloody Matt Dillons, Bob City, F**Bomb, Flipping Hades, Geraldine, Go Evol Shiki!, Moviola, Orchestraville, Rosavelt, Ruby Vileos, Salt Horse, Soda Vs. Pop, The Stepford 5, Stonevelvet, Brad Swiniarski and The Vincents.

Coupons will be available at each Cringe.com/pilation v2.0 support show. Patrons will be able to redeem the coupon for a free copy of volume 2 at its Spring 2002 release show.
